Lohri was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm in the premises of Vasant Valley Public School, Sangrur.

 

 


Lohri the festival which ushers in the joyous spring and bids adieu to the hard winter, was celebrated at School with exuberance and fanfare on 13th January 2023. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students, faculty all were immersed in the festive spirit. Everyone gathered in their festive attires looking best for the occasion. A key symbol of Lohri is the bonfire. The School Principal, Mrs. Anitha R. wished everyone a happy and prosperous lohri and blessed the students with her warm wishes. She also added that lightning of the fire has been common in winter festivals throughout time and to the world it signifies the return of longer days. So, the celebration kicked off by lighting bonfire and ‘Lohri Poojan’ by respected Management members, worthy Principal Ma’am and entire fraternity as well as students. The Chairman of the institute, Mr. Sanjay Gupta greeted the students and faculty present on the celebration of the festival and stressed on the value of the culture. Everyone worshipped 'Dhooni' and groundnuts and sweets were also distributed among the students. After Poojan, students presented beautiful dance and sang songs around the bonfire. Poems were presented by students. Lohri is the harvest festival of Punjab popularly known as the bread basket state of India. Irrespective of which state or religion people belong to, Lohri was celebrated with equal enthusiasm by everyone. Teachers also delivered informative speech and sand traditional songs. 

All in all this festival helps to spread good cheer and are welcomed by one and all.
