Awareness Program on “Prevention of Drug Abuse” held in Vasant Valley Public School, Sangrur
Keeping in view the
rise in usage of drugs in children day by day, a one-day seminar on ‘Drug Abuse
and Addiction’ was organized for the students of Grade VIII to X under District
Legal Services Authority, Sangrur on 12 October, 2023(Thursday) in the School
Auditorium.
The programme was
attended by the Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Mr. PS Kalika
and Additional Civil Judge, Senior Division - Dhuri, Mrs. Neha Goyal who were
the Chief Guests during this seminar. The other dignitaries included Mr.
Jagdeep Singh, Station House Officer, Dhuri and Mr. Vikas Verma and Mrs. Nuri
Tulli, the President & Vice President of Anti Corruption Welfare Society and
core members of Department witnessed and graced the seminar with their
presence. The main speaker stressed on the importance of reaching out to the
youth to educate them about the menace of alcohol, drugs and substance abuse.
He also said that drug abuse has become a major social concern and students
have become vulnerable to fall into the trap. He interacted with students and
urged them to stay away from any kind of bad habits which are detrimental to a
person’s life since indulging in these activities only brings misery. He also
urged them to cultivate good, presentable and acceptable behaviour and become
successful persons in their future.
He also highlighted the
various slogans put forward by students in Painting Competition held on theme
of Punjab Against Drug Addiction and appreciated the efforts put up by the
students.
The School Principal,
Mrs. Anitha R. appreciated the initiation taken by Department of Legal
Services, Sangrur and stated that taking medicine without Doctor’s prescription
is equally harmful to a person’s health as drug abuse. She also then mentioned
on various ways of treating and counseling such persons entangled in Drug abuse
and addiction.
A huge thanks to team
of District Legal Services Authority, Sangrur to initiate this obligatory campaign
in Punjab.
