A conducive learning environment: New measures for the holistic development of students

School going children are often burdened with the weight of their schoolbag. Not only does this make the children hunch on their back and tremble or even fall, the extra weight can cause serious back problems. According to a study conducted by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, 68% of school going kids suffer from lower back problems.

Realising the gravity of this situation and following the footsteps of the CBSE's directive instructing schools to reduce the weight of school bags, Vasant Valley Public School has decided to  take up measures to ensure students aren't burdened by the weight of their bags.

Children are natural learners. They learn more when they are stress free and are in a conducive learning environment. The issue of bad posture and backache in children and adolescents has become a current issue in India.

The school Principal, Mrs Anitha Rajgopalan stated that school education, as a process, has been contributing to the holistic development of children. It also plays a crucial role in providing citizenship education to children in the country. This process formally takes place within the boundaries of a school with a designed curriculum including textbooks.

She also said that the curriculum will be designed according to the latest NCF syllabus and students will not come with hunchbacks to school.
