Vasant Valley Public School hosted an exhibition regarding National Handloom Day Commemoration.
"When human hands and heart work in tandem that is grace in the making, handwoven cloth has beauty and grace that is significant."
National Handloom Day is commemorated in India on August 7
each year since 2015. This year it's the 10th commemoration with the theme aims
to highlight the integration of technology and innovation in handloom weaving,
fostering skill development, and expanding market access for weavers. To remain
focus with the theme and to honour the Handloom weavers of the country a
special assembly was conducted at Vasant Valley Public School on 7th August,
2024 wherein the students were informed about the significance of country's
rich Heritage and culture.
The aim is to pay tribute to the handloom community for
carrying on the traditional heritage and ensuring financial stability.
Moreover, the day also commemorates the Swadeshi Movement and brings India's
handloom industry to the light. The students of Vasant Valley Public School
displayed various handwoven items in the exhibition.
School Principal Mrs.Anitha Rajagopalan said that the students
got an opportunity to see the exhibition and see the first-hand craftsmanship.
The class first students were enlightened about the importance of World
Handloom Day and were also shown an informative video. She added that the main
purpose of celebrating Handloom Day was to inspire the students to make
different kinds of things with their own hands. She said that highlighting the
talent among students is the need of the hour and her school organizes such
programs from time to time.
