VASANT VALLEY PUBLIC SCHOOL, SANGRUR Celebrating Threads of Tradition and Patriotism*
VASANT
VALLEY PUBLIC SCHOOL, SANGRUR, proudly CELEBRATED NATIONAL HANDLOOM DAY on 7TH
AUGUST 2025 with great fervour and elegance to honour India’s rich handloom
heritage and the unparalleled artistry of our local weavers.
The
school campus was beautifully decorated with traditional motifs, fabrics, and
art pieces showcasing the vibrant legacy of handlooms. The occasion was made
more special as all faculty members came dressed in exquisite handwoven attire,
displaying the complexity, beauty, and craftsmanship of indigenous textiles.
In
a heartwarming tribute, students performed a role play depicting Mahatma
Gandhi's Swadeshi Movement, where the spinning wheel (charkha) was prominently
showcased to emphasize the role of handlooms in India's freedom struggle. The
event created a strong emotional and cultural connect among the young learners.
A
special assembly was held, featuring thought-provoking speeches, cultural
performances, and a handloom-themed quiz, all aimed at sensitizing students to
support local artisans and embrace sustainable fashion.
Chairman Mr. Sanjay Gupta, in his message,
said: "National Handloom Day reminds us of the dignity of labour, the
significance of our traditions and the need to uplift our local communities.
Let us pledge to support our weavers and cherish the heritage passed on through
their threads."
Principal Mrs. Anitha Rajagopalan added:
"Our students must grow up appreciating the depth and diversity of our
culture. By celebrating National Handloom Day in school, we are instilling
pride in Indian craftsmanship and encouraging the young generation to be
conscious consumers."
The
event beautifully captured the spirit of unity, sustainability, and cultural
pride, leaving everyone inspired to #GoVocal For Local.
