Vasant Valley Public School Organizes Seminar on Period Positivity and Hygiene Drive
Vasant Valley Public School, Ladda
(Sangrur), organized an awareness seminar on “Period Positivity and Hygiene
Drive” under the ambit of the POCSO Act. The seminar witnessed enthusiastic
participation from students of Classes V to X. The primary objective of the
programme was to create awareness among students regarding menstrual hygiene,
health, and necessary precautions during menstruation.
The seminar was conducted by the
school’s Science faculty, who provided valuable insights on maintaining hygiene
during menstruation, the importance of a balanced diet, regular changing of
sanitary pads, and being attentive to health-related concerns. An interactive
session was also held, where students were encouraged to ask questions and
openly share their concerns, helping to dispel myths and misconceptions.
On this occasion, the Coordinator for
Classes V to VIII, Mrs. Taruna Arora, addressed the students and emphasized
that accurate knowledge and awareness are key to eliminating societal taboos.
She motivated the students to maintain personal hygiene and move forward with
confidence.
The School Director, Mrs. Deepika Gupta,
highlighted that education extends beyond textbooks and includes awareness
about essential life skills and health-related issues. She appreciated the
efforts of the Science teachers and noted that such initiatives play a
significant role in building confidence and awareness among students.
The School Principal, Mrs. Anitha
Rajagopalan, in her address, stated that menstruation is a natural biological
process and should not be considered a matter of shame. She stressed the
importance of educating students on this topic to ensure their physical and
emotional well-being.
The programme concluded with a message
from the school administration encouraging students to adopt hygienic practices
and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
